Role and attribution

The Spot Retail Store

Development of an adaptable spatial system.

Bojan Tepavčević worked with Modelart Arhitekti on concept development. He developed the parametric design and preparation for fabrication through the Digital Design Center and later through DDC-Make, creating a system that adapts to different locations while retaining a shared identity.

01 — Context

The Spot Retail Store

An identity that changes with its space

The Spot is a network of retail spaces with different dimensions, proportions and conditions. The task was not to design one fixed element, but a system capable of adapting to each location.

The geometric structure became the shared carrier of identity, while its form and intensity changed in response to each interior.

02 — From movement to curve

The Spot Retail Store

The path as the beginning of geometry

Customer movement and the organisation of the retail space were translated into a spatial curve directing the development of the system.

The curve links zones, follows the flow of the interior and establishes the basis for generating the elements.

03 — Adaptable system

The Spot Retail Store

Shared rules, different built versions

The parametric model enabled the width, height, density and rhythm of the structure to adapt to different locations.

The project’s identity depends not on repeating one form, but on consistently applying a shared geometric logic.

Shared rules allow the system to adapt to different locations.

04 — From model to fabrication

Components derived from one model

The system was resolved into panels and connecting elements with the data required for digital fabrication and assembly.

Geometry, labels and component layouts remain connected to the model, enabling controlled development of new variants.

05 — Geometric control

The Spot Retail Store

Controlling geometric regularity

The mesh was shaped to appear dynamic and to adapt to the space, movement paths and the specific conditions of each location. At the same time, ball-packing optimisation allowed the triangular elements to remain as close as possible to an equilateral form.

The analysis shows the degree to which individual triangles deviate from an equilateral form. Despite the different spatial conditions and the pronounced dynamics of the mesh, deviations remain small throughout most of the system.
